Alexander Zaidler

Alexander Zaidler is one of Ukraine’s most prominent climbers and he has the title of Master of Sport.
He has attained the very special and rare award of “Snow Leopard” which means that Alexander has conquered all of the highest peaks of the Pamir and Tien Shan mountain ranges from countries in the former Soviet Union. These peaks include Communism Peak at 7495 meters, Pobeda Peak at 7439 meters, Lenin Peak at 7134; meters, Korzenevskoj Peak at 7105 meters, Khan Tengri at 6995 meters, Peak of Revolution at 6940 meters, Engels Peak at 6510 meters and many others. The Pamir mountains are located in Central Asia and are formed by the junction of the Tian Shan, Karakoram, Kunlun and Hindu Kush ranges. They are among the world’s highest mountains. The Pamir region is centered in the Tajikistani region of Gorno-Badakhshan. Parts of the Pamir also lie in the countries of Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He is an Honored Trainer of Ukraine.
Alexander was born on the 15th of July, 1931 in Dnepropetrovsk, Ukraine.
He was a metallurgist engineer by profession.
Alexander started his mountaineering experience in summer of 1950 and his first peak was Mt. Elbrus in southern Russia at 5642 meters. Since that time he has made more than 200 ascents of various peaks in the Caucasus, the Pamir, the Tien Shan, the Alps and the Cordilleras but not limited to those. He was the organizer and the head of numerous climbing expeditions and ascents.
He has been participating in Climbers for Peace since 1997 and is a co-leader of the Ukrainian segment.
Now Alexander is an Honored Chairman of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Mountaineering and Climbing Federation and is a representative of Ukraine in Youth Commission of the Union of International Associations of Alpinism or UIAA.
